May 11th is Eat What You Want Day! Here at Braw Wee we absolutely LOVE food and there’s so much on offer in Glasgow. Here's the team's classic Scottish favourites:
Jennifer: Roll and square sausage with a tattie scone and brown sauce is my comfort food - I need a lot of comforting! My favourite is from Traders Cafe across the road from the shop as you get a choice of soft or crispy roll! It reminds me of Sunday morning fry-up at home and hungover student days in my first flat.
Siobhain: Chips, cheese and curry sauce is one of my all time favourites, my bandmate calls it a Triple C! I’ve spent many a night in The Godfather on Sauchiehall Street after too many White Russians at Nice n Sleazy. It’s the perfect end to a night out. Another thing I really missed when I lived in London was Morton's Rolls - they're truly a cut above the rest.
Jasmine: I absolutely love veggie haggis! I’ve been inspired by the whole ‘vegan sausage roll’ craze and started rolling the haggis up in pastry with some hummus for my lunch. There are so many amazing vegan options in Glasgow and lots of vegan food markets where you can try new things! I recently tried the vegan creme egg brownies from Herbivore Kitchen at the Generation Veg market in the Briggait and they were amaaaaazing.
Molly: There are so many Scottish foods that I love and enjoy - originally being from England, I cannot believe the amount of amazing stuff we are missing out on and not even realising! My favourites are a Morton’s roll with egg, tattie scone and loads of ketchup. A pizza crunch, roll and fritter, macaroni pies and I’m absolutely obsessed with Tunnocks everything but especially teacakes. The food is one of the best things about Glasgow!
We hope wherever you are you eat what you want this weekend!
